1
ISTANBUL (Dinner)
Welcome to Turkey, where an enchanting harmony emerges from the convergence of history and modernity. Discover vibrant Istanbul, a captivating blend of Eastern and Western cultures. You will be greeted by your local guide, who will assist you in transferring to your hotel and introduce you to local customs. Dinner is included.

Istanbul to Canakkale (Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Begin the day with a sightseeing tour that includes notable landmarks such as the Istanbul City Walls, renowned for their remarkable fortifications and several impressive castles. The ancient walls of Constantinople, constructed by Emperor Theodosius II over 1500 years ago, still remain intact in many areas. Following this, we will visit the Blue Mosque, also known as the Sultan Ahmet Mosque, which served as a significant religious site in the 16th century and is distinguished as Istanbul’s only mosque with six minarets. Our journey continues to the Hippodrome Square, which once hosted horse-drawn chariot races and gladiatorial contests during the Byzantine era. Currently, it is adorned with monuments like the Egyptian Column and the Serpentine Column. Next on the itinerary is the St. Sophia Museum, a fascinating blend of Christian and Islamic heritage housed within the same structure. We will then proceed to the Topkapi Palace, a museum that showcases a vast collection of porcelain, treasures, and religious artifacts. This palace served as the primary imperial residence of the Ottoman Dynasty. Following our exploration, we will travel to Canakkale, passing through the Gallipoli Peninsula—a protected area featuring picturesque landscapes and pine forests, famously known as the site of the First World War. As we cross to the Asian side of Turkey, we will pause for a photo opportunity at the iconic Trojan Horse located in the center of Troy. Upon arrival, we will be welcomed by a grand replica of the wooden horse, serving as a poignant reminder of the legendary Trojan War. We will spend the night in Canakkale.

Canakkale – Pergamon – Izmir: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Following breakfast, embark on a visit to the ancient city of Troy, where you will observe the remnants of this legendary city and explore the battlefield linked to Hector and Achilles. Afterwards, take in the stunning views of the Aegean Sea and its islands, known for their sheltered harbors and bays. Historically, maritime navigation in this region was more straightforward compared to traversing the challenging landscapes of the Greek mainland. A photo opportunity will be available at Lesbos Island (Midilli Island), which ranks as the third largest Greek island and served as a significant cultural hub in antiquity. The journey then continues to Pergamon (Rev 2:12-17), recognized for the ‘throne of Satan’ (commonly referred to as the Altar of Zeus), which is commended for its steadfast faith and martyrdom, although it confronts those with misleading doctrines. Key sites include the Red Basilica, also known as the Pergamon Basilica. Following this, travel to Thyatira (Rev 2:18-29), another site associated with the seven churches in Turkey. Thyatira is noted for its growing faith and acts of service but is criticized for its acceptance of Jezebel, who falsely claims to be a prophetess. Here, you will find remnants of public buildings dating from the 4th to the 6th century. Conclude your day with dinner and an overnight stay in Izmir.

Izmir – Kusadasi – Izmir (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
After enjoying breakfast, we will visit Smyrna (Izmir) (Rev 2:8-11). The message from Smyrna highlights the challenges of false Jews and looming persecution but motivates perseverance, promising rewards for those who endure. Key sites include St. Polycarp Church. Following this, we will head to the Leather Outlet Center for some shopping. Our next destination is Selcuk, where we will explore the ancient city of Ephesus (Rev 2:1-7). While Ephesus is commended for its steadfastness, it also faces criticism for neglecting its “first love.” Notable sites in the area include the Basilica of St. John, Ephesus. We will then visit the Basilica of St. John and a mosque, which was partially constructed using stones from the Temple of Artemis. Next, we’ll go to the House of the Virgin Mary, located in Ephesus. This shrine is enveloped in a beautiful, serene atmosphere amidst greenery and is believed to be the place where Mary may have spent her final days, possibly accompanied by Saint John, who lived in the vicinity to promote Christianity. Our itinerary includes a visit to the Temple of Artemis, recognized as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World. This temple was built in Ephesus, an area that has transformed into a swamp over the centuries. Finally, we will return to Izmir for dinner and an overnight stay.

Izmir – Sardis – Philadelphia – Laodicea – Pamukkale: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Following breakfast, we will set off to explore Sardis (Revelation 3:1-6), where the church is characterized as being spiritually dead and in need of revival. Nonetheless, a few individuals remain untainted, “having not soiled their garments.” Significant sites to see include the Sardis Synagogue, the Temple of Artemis, and a Byzantine Church. Next, we will head to Philadelphia (Revelation 3:7-13), which receives commendation for its perseverance despite limited strength. Those who falsely assert their Jewish identity, labeling themselves as part of the “synagogue of Satan,” will face judgment. The Byzantine Basilica is a notable site here. Our journey will then take us to Laodicea (Revelation 3:14-20), a church sharply rebuked for its indifference, with its affluence masking its spiritual desolation. Key sites to visit include the Stadium and the Sarcophagi. Finally, we will continue to Pamukkale, known as the Cotton Castle, where we will explore the vast ruins of Hierapolis and Necropolis, celebrated for their thermal baths and health facilities. Afterward, we will witness the enchanting terraces and structures of “Cotton Castle,” formed by the white limestone deposits from thermal springs. Before checking into our hotel, we will make a stop at a textile factory outlet center for a bit of shopping. We will spend the night and have dinner in Pamukkale.

Pamukkale – Konya – Cappadocia: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today’s journey takes you to Konya. Make a brief stop for photos at a 700-year-old caravanserai, a historical ‘hotel’ for traders and travelers along the Silk Road. If your visit occurs in July, explore the Kuyucak Lavender Farm, the largest lavender farm in Turkey. Following this, head to Pisidian Antioch, also known as Antioch of Pisidia, which was a significant Roman colony that St. Paul visited during his initial missionary journey. This city was pivotal in Paul’s ministry, as it became the first city to host a completely Gentile Christian community. Afterward, enjoy dinner and prepare for an overnight stay in Cappadocia.

Cappadocia: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
This morning, you are set for hot air ballooning to admire the lovely landscape at sunrise. After the included hot air balloon ride, our first destination will be the Goreme Open-Air Museum, which is akin to an extensive monastic complex featuring an array of refectory monasteries situated closely together, each housing its own remarkable church. Undoubtedly, this is a must-see attraction for anyone visiting Cappadocia. The museum showcases exquisite rock-cut churches adorned with stunning frescoes (wall paintings) that have remarkably preserved their vibrant colors. Additionally, it offers distinct examples of rock-hewn architecture and fresco artistry. Since 1984, the Goreme Open-Air Museum has held a spot on the UNESCO World Heritage List and was among the first two UNESCO sites established in Turkey. Following this, you’ll have a unique opportunity to delve into the craftsmanship of Turkey with a Turkish carpet weaving course. Afterward, we will proceed to Pigeon Valley, making photo stops at Uchisar, a village resembling a castle, filled with fascinating and unusual creations of both humanity and nature. If time allows, we can explore a local cave house before heading to Avanos Pottery Village, located along the banks of the Kizilirmak (Red River). You’ll also have the opportunity to admire Turkey’s semi-precious turquoise stones, a term coined by Marco Polo referring to the “color of Turks.” The day will culminate in a visit to the Underground City, which once served as a refuge for 15,000 Christians. Here, you can explore ancient bedrooms, a church, a meeting hall, and food storage rooms within this eight-story city, interconnected by 30 kilometers of corridors and passageways. Enjoy dinner and spend the night in Cappadocia.

Cappadocia– Ankara – Bursa: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
This morning, we will journey past the scenic Salt Lake before reaching Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. Our highlights in Ankara will include the stunning Ataturk Mausoleum and Museum, which serves as the burial site for Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, considered the founder of modern Turkey. The mausoleum showcases a variety of architectural styles from different Anatolian civilizations. Afterward, we will have dinner and spend the night in Bursa.

Bursa – Istanbul (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Today, we set off for Istanbul, passing through Iznik (Nicea) where we will visit St. Sophia of Nicea. Originally, the first church on this location was built during the 4th century. It underwent reconstruction in the mid-6th century, funded by Emperor Justinian I. In 787, it was the venue for the Second Council of Nicaea, marking the conclusion of the first phase of Byzantine Iconoclasm. After this, we will continue our drive to Istanbul for an overnight stay.

Istanbul (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner)
Start your day with breakfast before heading to the Grand Bazaar, a sprawling marketplace that has been around for 500 years, featuring over 4,000 stalls selling a variety of items including leather products, jewelry, handicrafts, ceramics, Turkish coffee, and other local specialties. Next, explore the Spice Bazaar before embarking on a Bosphorus cruise. As you glide along this vital waterway that separates Asia from Europe, take in the vibrant sights and sounds of Istanbul. Marvel at the stunning architecture lining the river and observe the lively activities of the local populace. You’ll also have the opportunity to capture photographs of Rumeli Castle and Anatolia Castle, both constructed by the conqueror of Istanbul in 1453. Continue on to Taksim Square, the focal point of Istanbul’s European side. Stroll down Istiklal Street and stop by St. Antoine Church, built in 1726 to replace the older St. Francois church from 1230 AD, which stands as the largest Catholic church in the city’s core. Spend the night in Istanbul.

Istanbul to Athens: (Breakfast)
You will be taken to the airport for your flight to Athens. Once you arrive at Athens airport, a transfer will take you to your hotel. The remainder of the day is yours to unwind and explore the city of Athens.

Corinth (Breakfast and Lunch)
Leave Athens and head towards Corinth, stopping briefly at the Corinth Canal first. Next, we will continue to Ancient Corinth, where you will explore the archaeological site featuring the Temple of Apollo. Discover the remnants of Ancient Corinth, where St. Paul delivered sermons, and take in the sights of the Ancient Agora. From the archaeological site, you will also catch a glimpse of the impressive AcroCorinth castle, a fortified citadel from ancient and medieval times. Enjoy lunch near the archaeological site, and after your meal, make your way back to Athens, passing through Cenchrea, a port where St. Paul had a brief stop before heading to Syria.

Tour of Athens (Breakfast and lunch included)
Meet your driver and guide to embark on a journey to the Acropolis. Begin your exploration at the archaeological site, where you will encounter significant structures such as the Propylaea, the grand entrance to the Acropolis, the Temple of Athena Nike, also known as the Featherless Victory, and the Erectheion, which is devoted to the veneration of Athena and Poseidon-Erechtheus, the primary deities of Attica. From an elevated viewpoint, you will also observe the Theater of Dionysus, associated with the god of wine and fertility. The tour will culminate at the Parthenon, a key and iconic representation of ancient Greek culture, which continues to symbolize it internationally.
Next, you will stroll to Areopagus, or Mars Hill, a rocky marble hill adjacent to the Acropolis, where St. Paul delivered his sermon on the Unknown God to the Athenian citizens. Following this, enjoy a leisurely walk through Plaka, the historic district of Athens characterized by its neoclassical architecture and quaint narrow lanes. Savor your lunch at a traditional tavern in Plaka.
Before returning to your hotel, we will take a panoramic bus tour of Athens, passing by major attractions such as Constitution Square, the National Garden, and Hadrian’s Arch. We will also make a brief stop at the Panathenaic Stadium, the site of the first modern Olympic Games held in 1896.
