Cairo to Sinai

Today, we bid farewell to Cairo as we check out from our hotel in the morning and embark on our journey toward Mount Sinai, tracing the route of the Exodus, where Moses led the Israelites out of Egypt. Our adventure commences with a drive through the deserts toward the Sinai Peninsula, where the harsh landscape contrasts with the vibrant blue sky, offering glimpses of the magnificent Red Sea. The site currently known as the Springs of Moses corresponds to Morah in the Old Testament, which is described as the first place the Israelites reached and rested after crossing the Sea of Reeds. It was here that Moses struck the waters with his staff to transform the brackish water into drinkable water for his people.
As we continue to Elim, the Bible narrates the existence of twelve springs and seventy palm trees, allowing visitors to enjoy the lush greenery amid the surrounding desert, providing a refreshing escape. The path then leads us to Wadi Firan, the location where the Israelites encountered the Amalekites. The terrain changes dramatically in this secluded valley, surrounded by towering mountains and rich flora and fauna. Here, the natural beauty merges with deep spiritual significance, as the desert’s tranquility invites moments of introspection and contemplation. Upon arriving at the base of Mount Sinai, travelers find themselves at the foot of a sacred peak while holding onto the captivating stories and sights from this remarkable journey through a region steeped in historical and natural wonders.
Afterward, we will check in to a hotel in St. Catherine’s Village for dinner and an overnight stay.
